I’m Michelle, a Currituck native from the Grandy Family. I grew up on a horse farm, worked with my stepdad pumping septic tanks, and pulled crab and eel pots with my grandad. My husband, Marcus, and I live on a homestead with two of our six kids. I taught high school at CCHS for over six years before transitioning to medicine because our area needed more compassionate doctors.

I’m a jeans-and-flip-flops kind of doctor. I work hard, get my hands dirty, drink unpasteurized milk, play guitar, sing in my church’s praise band, love God, cuss occasionally, and enjoy a beer. I support and care for people of all backgrounds because we’re all in this together.

After a decade in corporate medicine, I left because I believe insurance companies shouldn’t dictate care. I don’t accept insurance, and I emphasize healthful living, alternative medicine, and self-responsibility. I’ll tell you the hard truths with love, but I believe in shared decision-making—I’m your “learned friend,” not a medical dictator.

I don’t prescribe controlled substances unless for hospice but will refer you to a specialist if needed.

I provide care by coming to you—home, worksite, nursing facility, hospital—or via telemedicine. I have no office, allowing me to deliver personalized, on-demand care. Home visits Currituck, Camden and Dare counties, with exceptions for hospital/nursing stays (will travel to VA and Elizabeth City). Travel fees from Poplar Branch do apply. I also provide telemedicine visits.

You won’t go through nurses or secretaries—I will be your doctor, whether you’re sick, in the hospital, at a nursing home, need a pap smear, have a hook in your finger or are facing a heavy diagnosis or even out of town on vacation. I’ll be your doctor.
